These Songs of Freedom – The King Mix

Posted by Jon, onehumanbeing on April 3, 2010

In Honor of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Won’t You Help To Sing These Songs Of Freedom

Today is April 3, 2010 – 42 years since Rev. King gave the speech used at the end of this sound collage, his last speech, the “Mountain Top” speech. A prophetic statement concerning his own death which contains a promise for his people – you will get to that promised land!

“Well, I don’t know what will happen now. We’ve got some difficult days ahead.

But it doesn’t matter with me now. Because I’ve been to the mountaintop. And I don’t mind.

Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I’m not concerned about that now.

I just want to do God’s will.

And He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I’ve looked over. And I’ve seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people will get to the promised land.

And I’m happy, tonight.

I’m not worried about anything.

I’m not fearing any man.

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.”

Source Material

The main music pieces used in this sound collage include Pink Floyd’s “Is There Anybody Out There” and “Hey You” from their album The Wall and Bob Marley’s “Redemption Songs” – one of my favorite songs.

Mixed-in are clips from the CBS News announcement of Rev. King’s death and the speech mentioned above.

Enjoy, reflect and pass it on…

Dance Upon Injustice – The Calling Down Mix

Dance Upon Injustice – The Calling Down Mix

A Special Good Friday Mix

I just finished remixing (at 3:30am) the piece I did a couple of weeks ago called Dance Upon Injustice – Glenn Beck VS Jesus

I removed all the politics and created a new sound collage which addresses different ideas:

  • Inviting Elijah (a passover theme)
  • Jesus on the cross (a Christian Good Friday theme)
  • Psalm 79 (a passover theme, calling for Elijah – read in Hebrew)
  • Psalm 37 (my personal Psalm – read in Hebrew)
  • Calling down the Holy Spirit

… all layered over this cut-and-paste-remix of a liveDelirious? track from the mid-90’s.

Quite a Good Friday mix of ideas.

Enjoy, reflect and pass it on…

Dream Leaver – Instant Karma Mix

Length: 5:37 of ear candy…

About This Sound Collage

The source material for this sound collage includes Gary Wright’s mid-70’s hit Dreamweaver, two of John Lennon’s songs – Instant Karma and God, and another piece from movie Network.

The idea or thread that runs through this piece – “ceasing to believe what you believe, so you can believe again…”

Enjoy, reflect and pass it on.
